What If My Kids Don't Behave During Family Photos?

As a family photographer serving Tipp City, Troy, Dayton, and the surrounding Ohio communities, one of the biggest worries I hear from parents is whether their kids will cooperate during family photos.

And let me tell you something: your kids don't have to be perfectly behaved for us to create beautiful photographs.

I went on a session this past weekend, and one of my favorite things to do when I first meet your little ones is to bring the EXCITEMENT!

I love asking them their names, but then I'll stop and say, "WAIT! Let me guess! Is it Spiderman?! Are you the REAL Cinderella?"

Well, the little guy I had this weekend, who was three, informed me instantly that he WAS going to tell me his name, but now he wasn't going to.

I guess because I guessed incorrectly?

And you know what? I'm here for that.

I want the little guy who is guarded, who takes time to warm up. I want to walk them through the process so that when Mom says it's time to take pictures, they understand it's not painful. They don't just have to show up, stand still, and smile.

Will we grab some of those picture-perfect moments? Yes, absolutely. Grandma loves those!

But then, are we going to have fun?

YES.

I tend to put my full focus on your littles because I want them to enjoy the experience, too. Because let's face it, if they don't enjoy those 45 minutes, Mom and Dad won't either.

I don't want Mom pulling out her hair trying to get everyone to sit still.

So we will play.

We will play a few games (yes, they will be cheesy). You will cuddle and love on each other.

And meltdowns? Been there!

Sometimes we just need a good cry. We'll step away for a moment, give everyone some space, and let Momma love on her little one.

Part of my job is to meet you right where you are. Kids included.

And when I look back at a photograph from your session, I can HEAR the giggle. The giggle that you wish you could bottle for life.

At the end of the day, I have one goal for your session: for it to be laid-back, memorable, and full of images you're proud to hang on your walls.

Your kids don't need to sit perfectly still. You don't need to spend the entire session telling everyone to smile. You just need to show up and be yourselves.

Come as you are. I'll take care of the rest.

I get it!

My 15-minute holiday mini sessions are just around the corner! A little less time, a little holiday fun, and beautiful memories to take home.
